As an Irishman it's great to see our culture getting some representation as Celtic culture is usually overlooked in favour of Vikings in fantasy and sci-fi so props to Dan Abnett. The Gaunts Ghosts series is my favourite in 40k, he took so much inspiration from the Sharpe book series by Bernard Cromwell and later made into the television series starring Sean Bean. A small unit, a drop in the pond, really good developed characters, an officer given a promotion but sent to a haphazard unit seemingly without discipline, with a gruff and hostile Irish sergeant that later proves its worth tenfold and the officer grows to love his men.

In The Big Dakka, there’s a male wych who ascended to succubus and upon doing so, had a haemonculus turn them in to a full anatomically correct female. Since their flesh craft is basically magic, the process succeeded.

Taking my time going through this series, keeping that passive excitement while I await the drop of Space Marine 2. What are your thoughts on SM2 so far? Does it get that Arch approval?

I believe the Despoiler class Battleship being more numerous than initially suggested might be an indicator of Chaos building not merely additional examples, but ships that are close enough to be called a Despoiler. Similar to how different patterns of Warlord Titans exist in the lore. Or how more than one pattern of Battlebarge exists--though a Battlebarge can technically be of any type of warship. Strangely enough, a lot of the older Chaos Battlebarges in Battefleet Gothic used to look quite similar to the Despoiler--Terminus Est most notably, given it's what the Despoilers are based on (the plans for the ship came from Barbarus, god knows why the Mechanicus would bother scavenging designs plans from a traitor legion homeworld). This might imply that somewhere in the Eye, perhaps someone else tried in--a similar vain to the Imperium--to produce something similar to Typhus's flagship. This might also explain how Rogal Dorn went missing aboard a Despoiler class at a time when the class hadn't officially been built by the Imperium.

The emperor having wild swings in personality actually kinda makes sense, given that he was made of a bunch of shamans (psykers) sacrificing and combining themselves. For him at least there's an excuse for that inconsistency that feels pretty solid. Other characters don't have as good an excuse to be so inconsistent, though. It would be definitely better if they had had more writing direction from GW like Arch said...

Continuous technological progress is not the rule, but the exception. We just have the fortune of living during a particularly long run of progress. The Aborigines settled what is now Australia, learned how to use fires to flush animals out of forests, and then stayed in the Stone Age until the British arrived. The Chinese invented their way to a late medieval tech level by the 6th century and then slowed to a crawl until the British and French forced them open to Western trade. The Britons stayed in the Bronze Age for millennia after their ancestors took the land from the builders of Stonehenge, and when the Romans showed up to force them into the Empire they still used chariots in battle.

i think ive watched this whole series and the remastered episodes now at least 2-4 times a year along with badab absolutely some of the best material on yt for 40k and i wish arch would finish the horus heresy series
